Educator Programs

  • ArtCart visits to school
  • Sponsored by: Purdue University Galleries
  • Discipline: Visual Arts
  • Mission: The Purdue University Galleries provide high quality visual art exhibitions and programming to enhance the educational mission of Purdue University and to serve as a cultural resource for the Greater Lafayette area. Through the presentation of exhibits, lectures and special events and through the acquisition, preservation and interpretation of the permanent art collection, the Galleries provide a wide variety of artistic and educational experiences to stimulate an understanding and appreciation of art. We are working to support the strategic plans of the university and the School of Liberal Arts, including a firm commitment to serving the needs of K-12 educators in the state of Indiana. Interactive displays, class visits to exhibitions, and professional development workshops for teachers are all vital to our plans to complement the work of local educators.
  • Description: Purdue Galleries can bring its outreach arts vehicle (essentially a bookmobile for art) to schools to meet with classes and provide hands-on activities with student and community volunteers. Projects can be tailored to teachers' interests but can include multiple block color printmaking, individual artworks assembled into a mosaic display, and artist trading cards.
  • Grade(s): K-5, 6-8, High School
  • Cost: Galleries will attempt to cover materials costs with grant funding; dependent upon nature of the project, number of students involved, etc.
